Like in Necrodancer, when in combat you must press buttons to move and act in time with the beat of the song playing. As a result, these crypts mostly lack the clever level design in Zelda’s best dungeons, but they still feel intense because they present Cadence of Hyrule’s most intense combat/puzzle challenges. There are even familiar tricks like hiding cavities full of extra enemies in the walls for you to stumble upon. ![]() They adhere to Zelda tradition in that you need open locked doors and chests to find a map, a compass, and a “big key” on your way to the boss’ lair, but feel much more like Necrodancer because their structure relies on tools like shovels which are used to dig through some walls and torches to increase visibility in dark dungeons. ![]() “Dungeons, on the other hand, are completely procedurally generated aside from a hub entranceway. ![]() Its very hard to take it all seriously, especially when the characters themselves fight over silly or simple things. In between that, it’s a bunch of random cut scenes that are hard to piece together into a coherent story. The first few acts involve some of the fighters being recruited to fight in the Dead or Alive Tournament, and the second half of the game is about ninjas taking down an evil corporation. The plot jumps back and forth so much, and between so many different things, that it’s hard to keep it all straight. Not-So-Captivating StorylineĪs for the story itself, there isn’t much noteworthy to be said. ![]() The lady characters themselves are badass, but their ridiculous over-the-top sexualization wouldn’t be appropriate for some players, especially younger kids. This made the characters look that much more realistic, looking increasing war-torn as they battle each other. The use of the Judd engine did permit Dernie and Coughlan to design a smaller and lighter car than before indeed the narrowness of the cockpit required Momo to build a special steering wheel to allow the drivers to fit their hands between the wheel and bodywork of the car. Judd were therefore enlisted to supply their CV 32 valve V8 engine, but as Lotus were only a "customer" (Judd's principal contracts were the supply of their latest EV V8 engines to the Brabham and March teams) solutions were sought to make up the power deficiency by appointing Tickford to research and develop a version of the Judd engine with a five-valve-per-cylinder head. Lotus, along with other competitors, now had to incorporate 3,500 cc normally aspirated engines into their cars. ![]() The 101 was to be a rushed design built within weeks and to a series of constraints.ĭucarouge's departure coincided with end of the 1,500 cc turbocharged era. Despite his appointment the majority of the work for the 101 had been conducted by chief designer Mike Coughlan. Gérard Ducarouge's departure during 1988 had necessitated the former Williams aerodynamicist Frank Dernie to be appointed as Technical Director in November 1988. ![]() It was powered by a Judd V8 engine and driven by triple World Champion Nelson Piquet and Satoru Nakajima, in their second and third seasons with the team respectively.
